This reflash will work very well with an 06-08 S2000 in stock form, or with intake and exhaust. This reflash is now incorporated into the FlashPro for the S2000 - a recommended tunable alternative.

  • VTEC point decreased from 6000 rpm to 5600 rpm

This is for an ECU reflash - the ECU is not included.  Hondata does not sell direct - the reflash must be purchased from a Hondata dealer. The ECU reflash form must be sent with your ECU.

Tuning Notes.

The 06 S2000 is the first S2000 by Honda to have a programmable ECU. Our observations are that this is a very well tuned car from the factory. There were no peak power gains, but by raising the rev limit will increase the average power available when you shift at the rev limit.

The VTEC transition is much smoother than before. Peak torque may look as if has been reduced slightly, but this is an artifact of the dyno trying to catch the engine accelerating after the VTEC switch point.

The intakes manifold on the S2000 series engines get very hot. They have a metal intake gasket which transfers heat from the head very quickly. Pay lots of attention to keeping everything cool and you will see results. The S2000 Hondata intake gasket reduces intake temps about 15-40 degrees F, adds 2-4 ft pounds of torque and 4-5 peak HP.

VTEC Window

The VTEC window operates between 5600 and 6400 rpm.

  • At sea level the VTEC point is 5600 RPM.
  • Under 5600 RPM the engine is always on the low cam
  • Over 6400 RPM the engine is always on the high cam

As you increase in altitude and the air pressure drops, the VTEC point will rise from 5600 to 6400 rpm. If you live permanently at a high altitude, then this reflash may not be effective for you.

Notes

How do I get the reflash?

You will need to remove the ECU and via a dealer send it to Hondata. Unlike reflashes for other Honda models you will not need to send the key and immobilizer; just the ECU. Fill out this form and contact a Hondata dealer. Hondata does not sell direct.

What If I want to add parts later?

We have developed a reflash to work with the TODA header. The upgrade price is $200.

Can I use an 2006 ECU in my 2000-2005 vehicle?

This is not easy nor cheap, and we do not offer support for such a swap - at the least the engine sensors, sensor wheels, throttle body, ECU, vehicle harness, ECU harness, dash harness and cluster would need to be changed.

How do I remove my ECU?

The ECU is located behind plastic panels to the left of the driver's left foot. You will need a 10mm socket. This is what it looks like - in place and removed from the car.
